
PUBLIC PRACTICE
A/Prof Ramesh Balasubramaniam OAM, has two public appointments. He is a consultant at the Maxillofacial and Dental Department at Perth Children’s Hospital and also has an appointment at the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia.

A/Prof Balasubramaniam was the first consultant in Oral Medicine of the Dental Department at Princess Margaret Hospital and has been providing clinical services in Oral Medicine since 2009. Over the years, he has cared for hundreds of children with complex craniofacial disorders as part of the Cleft Lip and Palate Unit and the Craniofacial Unit. He continues to serve as a consultant at the Dental and Maxillofacial Department of the Perth Children’s Hospital.

The Oral Health Centre of Western Australia is the state’s dental hospital and is part of the Dental School at the University of Western Australia. For many years, A/Prof Balasubramaniam provided clinical services in Oral Medicine, specifically in the subspecialty areas of temporomandibular disorders, orofacial pain and dental sleep medicine. Since being appointed discipline lead and program convenor in Oral Medicine, he now has a supervisory clinical role, overseeing the clinical services in Oral Medicine delivered by the trainees in Oral Medicine.
